A Moment with Marsha

June 2006

“It’s all about having family and fun this Holiday”, says designer Marsha Cutler. For Memorial Day barbeque at her home, Marsha dressed her outdoor table with the Veranda Collection Floral placemats. Fresh hydrangeas, lilacs and parrot tulips in gorgeous hues infused color and kept it elegant.

“The challenge”, Marsha says “with bright colors is to keep it sophisticated. You don’t want your table looking like Barbie and Ken are just about to sit down to eat”. While Marsha wore a Foliage Frolic apron with matching pot holders and mitts, each guest got the Jacobean Collection aprons or pot holder/mitt sets as house gifts. Not expensive, and very cute.

Summer time means a lot of house guests. To create a cool and serene space in the guest bedroom, Marsha suggests the Jacobean bedding in Blue. Whilst it has the softness of an heirloom quilt, the Provence inspired florals evoke the summery feel of a garden in the French countryside. A bunch of mixed blooms on the bedside table will bring the room to life. You can be sure to have cheery faces at the breakfast table in the mornings!

Inspired by the lovely flowers blooming in her yard, Marsha wanted to bring in some color into her sunroom without spending a mint. She wanted to keep it comfy so she went with natural fabrics to freshen up her tired but overstuffed and extremely comfy couch. A couple of crewel embroidery pillows from Milli’s Bouquet are just the perfect antidote for this. Paired with just one Whimsical circle pillow, makes the room pop. Plus Lucy has a place to rest her big bushy tail as well…
